Grande Meadows crowned two first time club champions for 2015 on Sunday afternoon.
Sam Warren captured his first Men's Club Championship as he birdied the final hole to win over 2014 Men's champion Perry Stone by 2 strokes. Warren led Stone by 4 strokes after shooting a 77 on Saturday and he held off the charging Stone with a lovely birdie on the final hole. Matthew Hackett finished in 3rd place with a 164 total having carded 82 on each day. Mike Russell was alone in 4th with a 165 total from daily scores of 81 and 84.
Jennifer Moulton won her first Ladies Club Championship on Sunday afternoon with a two day total of 196. Moulton carded a 93 on Saturday for a 6 stroke lead over 2011 Ladies Champion Betty Walsh and she increased that lead to 8 strokes with a score of 103 on Sunday while Walsh came in with a 105 score. Moulton's mother, Denisine Nolan and Debbie Kenway tied for third with two day totals of 203. Nolan went 103 and 100 while Kenway shot 107 on Saturday and came back with a 96 on Sunday.
Gerard Cooke captured B Division with a two day total of 163 having carded daily scores of 82 and 81 to win by 9 strokes over Tony Mitchell who had daily scores of 87 and 85 for a 172 total. Chad Antle finished 2 strokes behind Mitchell in 3rd place with a 174 total from scores of 89 and 85.
Dick Hanrahan won the C Division after finishing in a tie with Ray Etchegarry after Sunday's round in the very close final round. Day one leader Kevin Carvery, held a 1 stroke lead over Etchegarry and a 5 shot lead over Hanrahan. However, Hanrahan carded an 89 on Sunday while Etchegarry shot a 90 and Carvery fired a 95. The result left Hanrahan and Etchegarry tied with a two day total of 183 while Carvery was alone in 3rd at 184. The winner was decided using a form of retrogression where by the best last 9 hole, 6 hole and 3 hole scores were used. It was there that Hanrahan came out on top.

The Annual Club Championship began on a cloudy morning with 45 golfers taking part. In the last group of the Men's Division we had 83 year old Alex Hapgood and 13 year old Junior Champion, Charlie Dominaux playing in the same group.
Defending Men's Champion Perry Stone is looking to win for the second year in a row and the fourth time. With Defending Ladies Champions Judy Drake not participating this year the Ladies Division is up for grabs. |
