Grande Meadows
Course Update
July 17, 2020
Grande Meadows Golf Course continues to see an increase in golfers playing as the summer rolls on. It's great to see lots of activity at the course during these trying times.
Grande Meadows Facebook
Grande Meadows social media sites are undergoing some changes these days. Jacob Farrell, a Grade 11 MCHS student is using his social media talents towards improving and connecting the Grande Meadows Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts as well as helping with the Tourism Newfoundland & Legendary Coasts sites.
Junior Golf
Junior golf goes Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 am while Future Links goes Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:00 pm. Junior registration has doubled this year to 36 young golfers while Future Links has 18 young children learning the basics of golf. If anyone would like to volunteer to help out on either Tuesday or Thursday mornings please call Junior Co-ordinator Eric Evans at the Clubhouse at 826-2600, Stan McCarthy at 277-4566 or John Bugden at 891-1744.
Men's Night
Men's Night began Thursday July 2 and there have been an average of 32 members coming out each evening. The golf winners as well as the 50-50 winners can be found by checking out the Grande Meadows website. Kudos go out to the Men's Night organizing committee for the great job they do in having each night run very smoothly.
Ladies Night
Ladies Night has been going on each Monday night for the past month and 15 ladies turned out this past Monday evening for an enjoyable round of golf as well as a lunch.
13th Annual Burin Peninsula Open Golf Tournament
The 13th Annual Burin Peninsula Open Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday July 25. Due to Covid-19 regulations and our 2 hour 9 hole rounds this year's tournament will have a maximum of 48 participants. As of today we have 43 players signed up to play. Deadline to register is Tuesday July 21. Tee times will be completed and posted to the GM website as well as the clubhouse on Thursday July 23.
Players are asked to make sure their registration fee is paid either at the clubhouse or if you wish to etransfer you could do that by sending to Barry Stacey at barry.stacey@nf.sympatico.ca.
Please note that the Grande Meadows clubhouse and pro shop are open for shopping and Mulligans Restaurant is open from Thursday to Sunday. Check the Grande Meadows website for open times and the menu.
This week's shoutout goes to Bill Hanrahan who recorded his first ever hole-in-one on July 4 while playing along with brothers Frank and Dick. Bill used his 7 iron to ace the 150 yard Par 3 Hole #3 into a light breeze. Congratulations Bill!
All the best and stay safe.
Cheers
Barry
