Tracey Blagdon, assistant Principal of John Burke High School in Grand Bank, was elected Chairperson of the Board of Directors at Grande Meadows for the 2024 season at the first meeting of the Board recently. It marks the first time in the history of Grande Meadows that a woman has been elected Chairperson of the Board. Along with General Manager Heather Cluett it makes for a formidable duo to lead Grande Meadows going forward. Good luck to you both. At the meeting Paul Lambe was elected Vice-chairperson and Dennis Kelly Finance Chairperson while Tony Walters is responsible for HR. James Mitchell looks out to Junior Golf while Perry Stone is responsible for the Operations Committee. Grande Meadows recently held it’s Annual General Meeting at the Community Centre in Garnish. A great turnout of members made for a very interesting meeting. Reports on last year’s activities were given by members of the Board of Directors during the evening including a 2023 financial report along with the proposed budget for the 2024 season. General Manager Heather Cluett gave a very interesting report of her vision for Grande Meadows moving into the next few years. Re-elected to the Board of Directors for the 2024 season were Paul Lambe, Perry Stone, James Mitchell and Tracey Blagdon. Elected to the BOD for the first time were long time Grande Meadows members Dennis Kelly and Tony Walters, both of whom should bring a lot of experience to the board. There is still room for one member on the Board of Directors and hopefully that person will come on board sometime soon. Congratulations to all those who volunteered and a great big thanks to Stan McCarthy and Gus Keating for their efforts on the BOD the past few years. Thank you for your time and efforts. Stan McCarthy was elected the 2024 Golf Captain. It was also decided that Grande Meadows Golf Course will be open (with limited services) on Tuesday, April 30 for Pre-Season Play. Pre-Season Fees will be $5 per round for Members and $15 per nine holes for Non-Members. We can’t wait to see everyone again! |
