Russell & Baxter Win Club 2025 Championships

Mike Russell won his 3^rd Men’s Club Championship and Lacey Baxter won her 3^rd Ladies Club Championship at Grande Meadows on Sunday afternoon in a very exciting weekend of golf during the annual club championship.

Russell carded a tournament low round of 73 on Saturday to jump out to a 5 stroke lead which was insurmountable for the players behind him on Sunday. He shot a round of 82 on Sunday for a 2 day total of 155 to win by 2 strokes over Perry Stone who had Sunday’s low round of 76 to go with an 81 on Saturday for a 2 round total of 155. Matthew Hackett was alone in 3^rd with a 2 day total of 158 from daily scores of 78 and 80.

Baxter also jumped to a 5 stroke lead over Debbie Kenway on Saturday as she came in with a round of 86 while Kenway carded a 91. On Sunday Kenway had the ladies low round of 90 while Baxter shot a 91 which was good enough to give her her 3^rd Ladies Title. Baxter’s 2 day total was 177 while Kenway’s 2 day total was 181. Tracy Blagdon was alone in 3^rd with a 2 day total of 191 from scores of 98 and 93.

Calvin Brenton won the Men’s B Division with a total of 169 from daily scores of 88 and 81 to win by 7 strokes over Bill Hanrahan and Bill Warren who finished with totals of 176. Hanrahan shot daily scores of 95 and 81 while Warren’s daily scores were 85 and 91.

Dave Bungay captured the Men’s C Division with a 2 day total of 179 having posted daily scores of 88 and 91 to win by 2 strokes over Jim Farewell who carded daily scores of 92 and 89 for a 181 total. Al Lewis was alone in 3^rd place with a 184 total from daily scores of 91 and 93.

Glenn Picco won the Men’s D Division with a 160 total have shot identical scores of 80 on Saturday and Sunday. Ben Grandy finished in 2^nd place 5 strokes back with a 165 total from daily scores of 84 and 81. Glenn Forsey was 1 stroke back in 3^rd place with a 2 day total of 166 having shot daily scores of 82 and 84.

Each year the Tournament Committee invites the Junior Boys & Girls Club Champions to play in the tournament on an exhibition basis. This year Carson Aylward and Annie McCarthy participated and played very well. Aylward shot scores of 83 and 85 for a 168 total while McCarthy carded scores of 101 and 120 for a 2 day total of 221. Congratulations to both of our Junior Champions.

Russell & Baxter Lead The Way

Mike Russell and Lacey Baxter lead the way in the Men’s and Ladies Division of the 2025 Grande Meadows Club Championship after Saturday’s first round.

Russell carded a low round of 73 to lead the Mens Division A by 5 strokes over defending champion Matthew Hackett who came in at 78. Craig Hiscock and Tony Walters are tied for 3rd with identical scores of 79.

Baxter posted the low round in Ladies with a score of 86 to lead by 5 strokes over Debbie Kenway who carded a 91 while Tracy Blagdon is in 3rd with a score of 98.

Bill Warren leads the Men’s B Division with a score of 85 followed by Calvin Brenton 3 strokes behind at 88 while Ches Cribb is in 3rd place with a score of 90.

Dave Bungay leads the Men’s C Division having carded a score of 88 while Al Lewis sits in second place 3 strokes back with a score of 91. Jim Farewell’s score of 93 rounds out the top 3.

In a very competitive Men’s D Division Glen Picco has a 2 stroke lead over Glenn Forsey as Picco carded a score of 80 compared to Forsey’s 82. Ben Grandy is alone in 3rd place having posted a score of 85.

Round 2 goes on Sunday morning.
