\n\tCourse Update<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tApril 10, 2020<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tThis is our second weekly update to membership for the 2020 golf season. <\/span><\/span><\/font><\/font>The Board of Directors thought it would be a good idea to post regular weekly updates to the website. Check each Friday for the next while for an update to try and keep you up on what's happening with our golf course.<\/p>\n

\n\t <\/p>\n

\n\tYou are all aware of the current situation regarding the COVID-19 virus in Newfoundland, Canada and the world. So please stay safe and follow the principles of social distancing in the hope that this pandemic will be over sooner than later. We wish all of you a Happy Easter.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tBill says the course came out of the winter quite well. The greens and fairways seem to have wintered very well and there are very few trees down. Click the little pic to the left to see a photo of the green on Hole #7 taken by Edmund Antle last Sunday afternoon. Some people are going for a walk around the course checking it out. Please remember to practice social distancing as you do so. However, the course or the driving range is not open for anyone to use – see next paragraph.<\/b><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tThursday morning, we received the official word from Golf NL that the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development through the Health Department that golf has been classified as a non-essential service and therefore is not permitted to open to the public. In light of this notice, Golf NL has sent the a letter to the Minister responsible for Sport to request consideration of allowing golf courses to provide maintenance activities. Golf NL has also sent the letter to the Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation and contacted Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador to support their efforts on our part to seek approval for these activities. \n\tSome of our Board Members and Bill have taken part in a Webinar with Golf NL and there is another this coming Monday morning to update member courses around the province. Golf NL is also keeping an eye on the federal government initiatives and reporting back to the golf courses on appropriate courses of action.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\t <\/p>\n

\n\tIn the meantime there is another Skype Board meeting scheduled for Wednesday April 15. We see that people are keeping in touch by social media including Skype or Zoom. Myself along with 3 of my golfing friends namely Bob Hoyles, Ches Cribb and Edmund Antle connected on Zoom on Thursday morning for a Virtual Coffee to replace our regular Thursday morning winter meeting at Tim Horton's. I guess now you could call us Zoom Boomers  <\/b>or perhaps more appropriately Baby Zoomers<\/strong>. Ha! Ha!<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tUntil next week: Did you hear that during a recent checkup Steve Douglas's doctor told him to play 36 holes a day, so he went out and bought a harmonica.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n
