\n\tCourse Update<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\t <\/p>\n

\n\tUsually we tend to think that summer is over come the end of August but September has always been a great month to play golf at Grande Meadows. As the air gradually starts to get a little cooler the wind dies down a little and it makes for great golfing weather. So please keep coming out to enjoy the great golf that Grande Meadows has to offer. The fairways and greens have been in impeccable condition all summer and with the recent rainfall the fairways have come back to their true lush green color.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tFinancial Update<\/b><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tBack in March and April the 2020 golf season was much in doubt for all of Newfoundland, Canada and the world due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. Grande Meadows, having gone through a rough 5 years of losing money each year, seemed destined to have another tough season financially. However, something happened which none of us envisioned. Due to being cooped up in the house for several months, once the go ahead was give to reopen golf courses for 2020 there was a resurgence in the number of people who came out to play golf. Grande Meadows was no exception as we saw an increase in membership this year going from to 147 last season to 163 this season including 10 youth and 13 student members. As well our Junior membership doubled from 18 to 36 while the number of Future Links golfers increased as well. There was an increase in members of the public who came out to play which resulted in higher than budgeted green fees for the year. <\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tEven though we had just a few tournaments this summer which resulted in less than budgeted bar, kitchen and canteen sales the increase is green fees together with government subsidies should help Grande Meadows finally have its first season in a while <\/span><\/span><\/font><\/font>in the black.<\/b><\/span><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\t2020 Club Championship<\/b><\/span><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tThis will be a 36 hole stroke play competition. Registration fee is $40 per player which includes a steak dinner on Saturday. Divisions and prizes will be depend on the number of participants.<\/span><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tPlease sign up on the bulletin board at the clubhouse or call 826-2600.<\/span><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tRegistration Deadline is Wednesday September 9.<\/span><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tGolf Promotion For Remainder of 2020 Season<\/b><\/span><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tAny non-member golfer can golf the remainder of the 2020 golf season for $200.00 plus HST. Come out and take advantage of the great fall golf season at Grande Meadows. Call the clubhouse for details.<\/p>\n

\n\tFront and Back 9's <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\tMembers and other golfers who are playing 18 holes are asked to check in at the clubhouse after the Front 9 before heading out for the Back 9. This will help alleviate confusion as to which group in scheduled to tee off next. <\/span><\/p>\n

    \n\tWe'll Pay For Your Play In 2021<\/b><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

    \n\tGrande Meadows has a promotion for the remainder of the season whereby one person gets the opportunity to have his\/her membership paid for the 2021 golf season. Every green fee paying non-member will get a ballot each time that person pays to play at Grande Meadows for the remainder of the 2020 season.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

    \n\t <\/p>\n

    \n\tPlease note that the Grande Meadows Clubhouse and Pro Shop are open for shopping and Mulligans Restaurant is open from Thursday to Sunday. Check the Grande Meadows website for open times and the menu.<\/font><\/p>\n

Grande Meadows is a great course for walking as it is flat for the most part and as such is great for seniors who make up the majority of the our membership. With that being said this week we will give a shout out to our most senior male and female golfer – Bill Hodder and Jean Hollett. It is so great to see you both out enjoying playing the game. Keep it up!<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n
