\n\t23<\/b><\/span><\/font><\/font>rd<\/b><\/span><\/font><\/sup><\/font> Annual Grande Meadows Invitational<\/b><\/span><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tThe 23<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/font>rd<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/sup><\/font> Annual Grande Meadows Invitational begins today Friday September 25.  <\/span><\/span><\/font><\/font>The tournament begins with a practice round on Friday followed by 2 competitive stroke play rounds on Saturday and Sunday. 44 of the competing golfers will take part in the 10<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/font>th<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/sup><\/font> Annual Bally Haly Grande Meadows Ryder Cup style Challenge on Friday afternoon. Players will be paired up to play a 4 Ball Match on the Front 9 followed by singles matches on the Back 9. There will be a possible 3 points for each group with the team with the most points winning the Challenge Trophy. Grande Meadows has won the first 9 years but Bally Haly has put together a formidable team this year and Grande Meadows will have their work cut out to win this year.<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t2020 Match Play Championship Winners<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\tBarry Stacey captured the 2020 Grande Meadows Match Play Championship on Thursday with a 4 & 2 victory over Mike Russell. It was an even match through 12 holes before Stacey took over winning the next 4 holes to win his fourth Grande Meadows Match Play title having previously won in 2001, 2004 and 2013.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\tMeanwhile Eric Ayers won the Match Play Consolation final with a 5 & 3 win over Stan McCarthy.<\/p>\n

\n\tRemainder of 2020 Season Special<\/b><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tAny non-member can come and play golf at Grande Meadows for the remainder of the 2020 season while the course is open for $200.00 plus HST. A great deal for any non-member.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tGrande Meadows has a promotion for the remainder of the season whereby one person gets the opportunity to have his\/her membership paid for the 2021 golf season. Every green fee paying non-member will get a ballot each time that person pays to play at Grande Meadows for the remainder of the 2020 season.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tPlease note that the Grande Meadows Clubhouse and Pro Shop are open for shopping and Mulligans Restaurant is open from Thursday to Sunday. Check the Grande Meadows website for open times and the menu.<\/font><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t""<\/a><\/td>\n\n\t\t\t\tThis week's shoutout goes to<\/font> long time Grande Meadows member Don MacBeath who passed away suddenly on September 18. Don was one of the original Grande Meadows 200 members and one of its greatest supporters since day 1. He served on the Board of Directors for the first year of operation and was instrumental in putting together the Association's Bylaws. Don loved to golf and he loved to golf Grande Meadows. He put away the driver the past few years and took to using his irons exclusively no matter what the shot or what the weather. He may not have liked his driver but he sure loved his putter. He could putt with the best of them. <\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\tAs the weekend of the Annual GM Invitational comes upon us we will miss Don's presence as he had played in 17 of the first 22 yearly tournaments. We will share memories and drink a toast to Don on the weekend. Condolences go out to his wife Mary, his son Alex and all Don's extended family.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n
