Final Report

Stone, Chaulk, Stacey and Aylward crowned Champions!

Perry Stone captured his 4^th Grande Meadows Mens Club Championship on Sunday afternoon after shooting a round of 80 to go along with a day 1 score of 82 for a 163 total to defeat day 1 leader Matthew Hackett by 2 strokes. Hackett carded rounds of 81 and 83 for a 16 total. Jason Walsh carded rounds of 86 and 81 for a 167 total to finish in 3rd place.

Ethel Chaulk won her first Grande Meadows Ladies Club Championship with a 2 day total of 197 from scores of 103 and 94 to win by 3 strokes over Tracy Blagdon who had scores of 103 and 97 for a total of 200. Marilyn McCarthy finished 3^rd with a 2 day total of 222 from scores of 117 and 105.

Barry Stacey’s 2 day total of 174 from rounds of 86 and 88 was good enough to win the Men’s Senior Club Championship by 4 strokes over 2^nd place finisher Frank Hodder and 5 strokes over Art Kavanagh. Hodder carded scores of 97 and 81 for a 178 total while Kavanagh had daily scores of 90 and 89 for a 179 total.

Carson Aylward became the 1^st ever Youth Division Champion with a 2 day total of 163 from scores of 85 and 78. Carter Evans finished second with a 187 total from scores of 96 and 91 while Brayden Norman’s rounds of 107 and 82 was good enough for 3^rd place.

Bill Warren won Men’s B Division with a 2 day total of 180 from scores of 91 and 89 to win by 5 strokes over Bill Hanrahan who carded daily scores of 100 and 85 for a 185 total. Kevin Pittman’s rounds of 94 and 95 was good enough for 3^rd place with a 189 total.

Al Lewis won the Championship’s Overall Low Net with a 152 total from rounds of 79 and 73. This is the first time in the Grande Meadows Club Championship that there was an overall Low Net Champion. Over the 2 days Lewis was 2 strokes better than Frank Hodder’s 154 total from rounds of 85 and 69 while Ethel Chaulk was in 3rd place with a 155 total from rounds of 82 and 73.

Congratulations to all participants. A big shoutout goes to the outside and inside workers at the course along with volunteers for the weekend including Tony Walters, Bill Lee, Dave Bungay and Brad Russell who did a great job as starters, spotters and marshalling. A shoutout goes to all the players who helped with scoring, skins and the prize presentations.

Saturday Results and Sunday Tee Times

Golfers were met with high winds and cool temperatures to kick off the 2026 Grande Meadows Club Championship on Saturday morning. Winds of 60km/h gusting to the mid 80’s played havoc with the golf ball for many of the players. However, as the day wore on the sun came out and it warmed up a little to go along with a little less wind for the back 9.

Matthew Hackett carded a score of 81 to hold a 1 stroke lead over Perry Stone in the Men’s A Division while Jason Walsh had a round of 86 to finish in 3^rd place. Defending Champion Mike Russell was alone in 4^th with a score of 91.

Bill Warren’s score of 91 was good enough for a 3 stroke lead over Kevin Pittman’s 94 in the Men’s B Division followed by Gary Smith and Glenn Price with scores of 97 to sit in a tie for 3^rd place.

Barry Stacey finished with a score of 86 to lead the Men’s Senior Division by 4 strokes over Art Kavanagh who carded a round of 90. Al Lewis was alone in 3^rd place with a round of 93 followed by Art Cluett in 4^th place with a score of 94.

Ethel Chaulk and Tracy Blagdon had rounds of 103 to tie for the Ladies Division lead with Marilyn McCarthy in 3^rd place with a score of 117.

Carter Aylward led the Youth Division with a round of 85 while Carter Evans was alone in 2^nd with a round of 96. Brayden Senior carded a round of 106 to sit in 3^rd place while Brayden Norman, Landon May and Noah Nolan were in a tie for 4^th place with a score of 107. Liam Pike rounded out the Division with a score of 109

Round 2 goes on Sunday morning and the weather looks much more promising.

On Course Prize winner on Saturday were Sam Warren on Hole #3, Perry Stone on Hole #6, Ethel Chaulk on Hole #7 and Bill Warren on Hole #9.

Golfers will begin teeing up on Saturday morning at 8:30 am in the annual Grande Meadows Club Championship. Players will compete in several divisions including Men’s A & B, Men’s Senior, Ladies and for the first time a Youth Division. The Club Championship consists of 2 18 holes rounds of stroke play with prizes awarded for both Gross and Net winners in each division. As well there will be several on course prizes as well as a lunch on both days at the clubhouse following the round. The tournament concludes with the prize presentations on Sunday afternoon at the conclusion of Round 2.

Defending Club Champion Mike Russell is back to defend his Men’s title with past champions Perry Stone, Matthew Hackett and Sam Warren looking to come out on top again. Defending Ladies Champion Lacey Baxter is away on vacation so the Ladies title is up for grabs this year. For the first time ever there is a Youth division with 8 young golfers taking part.
