Brenton Wins 2025 Match Play Championship
 | After losing in the finals of the Grande Meadows Match Play Tournament for 2 of the past 3 years, Calvin Brenton exacted a little revenge by defeating Perry Stone 4 & 3 to win the 2025 Match Play tournament. Brenton had lost in the finals to Stone in 2023. On the way to the finals Brenton got by Everett Farwell 7 & 5, Glenn Picco 2UP and in the semi-finals defeated 2024 winner Barry Stacey 3 & 2. Brenton was the runner-up in 2024. Stone got by Gary Smith in Round 1 by a score of 4 & 2 and John Bugden 2 & 1 in Round 2. In his semi-final match Stone defeated Mike Russell 4 & 3. Brenton got off the mark early by winning the first 4 holes and Stone could never get any closer than 3 holes behind as Brenton cruised to his first GM Match Play championship. Stone got by Gary Smith in Round 1 by a score of 4 & 2 and John Bugden 2 & 1 in Round 2. In his semi-final match Stone defeated Mike Russell 4 & 3. In the Consolation final Matthew Hackett will play Jordan Baird. |
