2016 Royal LePage Provincial Amateur Golf Championships

Grande Meadows was well represented at the 2016 Provincial Royal LePage Amateur Golf Championships being held at Terra Nova Golf Course in Port Blandford from July 11 – 13. Twelve members made the trip to this year's tournament.

Day 3 Results and Scores

Grande Meadows top finishers included Bob Hoyles shot an 87 on Wednesday to give him a 3 day total of 266 which was good for 4th place in the Men's Super Senior competition. Hoyles also finished in a tie for 11th in the Men's Senior competition.

Matthew Hackett carded a final day 84 to give him a 3 day total of 254 which left him in a tie for 12th in the Men's Amateur and a tie for 10th in the Men's Mid Amateur.

Day 2 Results and Scores

After Tuesday's Day 2 Bob Hoyles is now in a tie for 4th in the Men's Super Senior and in a tie for 9th overall in the Men's Senior. Hoyles carded an 88 to go along with his opening day 91 for a 179 total which ties him with former Canadian Super Senior Champion John Williams but well back of leader Don Boland of Bally Haly who has a 2 day total of 153.

Matthew Hackett also carded a Day 2 score of 88 for a 2 day total of 170 to sit in a tie for 10th in the Men's Mid Amateur and a tie for 11th in the Men's Amateur. 

In other Mid Amateur scores Perry Stone fired a 92 for a 2 day total of 182 which was good for 25th place while Mike Russell's 97 gave him a 192 total which tied him for 33rd place after Day 2. Richard Kelly's 106 to go along with Monday's 100 gave him a 206 total and a tie for 44th place. Chad Antle improved by 16 strokes from Day 1 with a 94 which along with his 110 gives him a 204 total and 42nd place while Jeremy Cribb fired a second consecutive 111 for a 222 total and 47th place overall.

In the Men's Senior besides Hoyles, Gary Smith carded a DAy 2 99 to go along with opening day 89 for a 188 total which was good for a tie for 16th while Bob Banfield had 94 which gave him a two day total of 189 having shot 95 on Day 1. This put Banfield in a tie for 18th overall. Ches Cribb's 98 gave him a 2 day total of 191 which was good for 21st overall followed closely in 22nd by Edmund Antle whose 99 on Tuesday along with his 94 on Monday gave him a total of 193. John Bugden rounded out the Men's Senior in 28th place having a 2 day total of 231 which included a 116 score on Day 2 to go along with Day 1's 115.

Day 1 Results and Scores

Day 1 on Monday July 11 was played with a steady rain and little wind which resulted in higher than normal scores.

Bob Hoyles carded and opening day 91 which was good for 4th place in the Men's Super Senior and 13th in the Men's Senior.

Matthew Hackett led the way for the Grande Meadows contingent with an opening round 82 which tied for 7th in the Men's Mid Amateur and 11th in the Men's Amateur.

In other Mid Amateur scores Perry Stone carded a 90 which tied for 19th while Mike Russell's 95 was good for a tie for 30th. Richard Kelly finished the day in a tie for 36th with a score of 100.and Chad Antle came in at 45th with a 110 score while Jeremy Cribb finished Day 1 with a score of 111 for 46th.

In the Men's Senior Gary Smith's 89 was gave him a tie for 10th place while Ches Cribb's 93 was good for 15th place and Edmund Antle's 94 got him a tie for 16th. Bob Banfield had an opening round 95 which was 21st while John Bugden finished in 28th place with a score of 115.
