10th Annual Burin Peninsula Open Golf Tournament

Stewart Hartson originally from Burin and now living in Alberta fired a 1 under par 71 to capture the 2017 BP Open Men's championship on a perfect day for golf. Hartson who is visiting family in Burin shot a 4 under par 32 on the front 9 before closing out the back 9 with 39. Included on his card were 6 birdies. Hartson's score was one stroke off the Men's record which is jointly held by Matthew Hackett of Grande Meadows who carded a 2 under 70 at the 2016 Men's Invitational and Jason Hill of Bally Haly who also carded a 2 under 70 at the 2004 Men's Invitational.
Defending champion Joe Drake was 3 shots behind after carding a 74 which tied with former BP Open champion Perry Stone who also came in with a 2 over par 74.
Debbie Kenway of Grande Meadows won the Ladies Division with a score of 91 to win by 11 strokes over Denisine Nolan who scored a 102. Tracy Blagdon finished in 3rd with a total of 103.
Mike Blagdon won a very tight Men's Division 2 with a solid round of 79 while Ches Cribb finished in second just 2 strokes back after carding a score of 81. Ches Kenway was alone in 3rd wtih a score of 82 while Jeremy Cribb finished 4th with an 83.
For the first time ever the BP Open had a Senior's Division and Art Cluett was the winner with a score of 84 followed closely by Frank Hodder in second place who carded an 85. John Bugden finished alone in 3rd place with an 86.
