10th Annual Randy Douglas Memorial Tournament

""The 10th Annual Randy Douglas Memorial Golf Tournament held by his family each year drew a full field of 85 golfers on Friday July 31. The day got off to a great start but by the 5th hole some pretty good rain showers fell but to everyone's credit they continued on and finished the 9 hole best ball event. The event was won by the team of Mike Douglas, Richard Kelly, Bill Lee, Cory Grandy and Barry Stacey which finished with a score of -7. An amazing event happened during the tournament and it is covered in this weeks shoutout below. Congratulations Brenda!

Men's Night

Men's Night continues to be very popular among male golfers with over 30 players coming out every Thursday evening to enjoy a round with fellow members. This year golfers book their own tee times from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. There is a different game each night as well as a 50/50 draw. This year's Men's Night Finale will be held Saturday September 19. See Grande Meadows website for all the weekly results.

23rd Annual Grande Meadows Invitational Golf Tournament

The Tournament Committee has decided to run the 23rd Annual GM Invitational on September 25 – 27 this year. The tournament originally scheduled for the second week of June had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Invitations have gone out to other clubs inviting golfers to come during that weekend.

As a result there has been a small change in scheduling thanks to the Men's and Ladies' Night Committees who have both rescheduled their finales for a week earlier. The Men's Night Finale will go September 19 while the Ladies Night Finale will go September 20. The Grande Meadows Club Championship will now go the weekend of September 12 and 13. Thank you go both groups for agreeing to those changes.

Please note that the Grande Meadows Clubhouse and Pro Shop are open for shopping and Mulligans Restaurant is open from Thursday to Sunday. Check the Grande Meadows website for open times and the menu.

Shoutout to Brenda Douglas

This week's shoutout goes to Brenda who had a hole-in-one on Hole #3 during the 10th Annual Randy Douglas Memorial Golf Tournament held to honor her late husband Randy, a former member of Grande Meadows Golf Course who passed away unexpectedly almost 10 years ago. The Douglas family has held this tournament as a way for the many family and friends of Randy to come together each year to remember him doing one of his favorite activities – playing golf. Brenda used her driver to make the ace while playing in a group that included her daughter Nancy, Louise Lee, Lucy Dominaux and LeeAnn Bungay. Congratulations Brenda! It was certainly the highlight of the tournament.

All the best and stay safe.

Cheers

Barry
