Golf NL, through its membership committee, is introducing a new Tag Team competition this year!
The Royal LePage Tag Team Classic is an event that will allow golfers of various levels to compete on the same team against other teams with similar combined official handicap index.
Each qualifying event consists of a two-day tournament where a max of sixteen teams will play against one another in a true alternate shot single-elimination, stroke play format on day one. The winners of the first day will play the following day to determine who moves on to the championship weekend and the losers of the first day will play a consolation round.
In order for teams to be eligible for competition:
(i) All players must be GOLF Canada/Golf NL Members:
(ii) Players must have official GOLF Canada Handicap Index:
(iii) Team’s combined handicap must be at least 28:
(iv) Combined HCI will be confirmed on the first day of the qualifying event
The player registration fee is $150 per person and registration will open on Monday June 7th, 2021.
A team can participate at one of the qualifiers below:
July 17th & 18th – Bally Haly
July 24th & 25th – Pippy Park
July 31st & August 1st – Pitcher’s Pond
August 7th & 8th – Clovelly
August 14th & 15th – The Wilds
August 21st & 22nd – Terra Nova
The championship weekend will be held on October 2nd & 3rd at Terra Nova Resort.
The top 4 teams from their respective qualifying event will advance to the championship weekend. The teams competing in the championship weekend will receive, ground transportation from St..John’s with pickup at designated points, 1-night accommodation per team, Club storage/Power cart/Practice included, and a player tee gift package.
Saturday afternoon will consist of a Shot Gun Stroke Play Format narrowing the field to 12 Teams. On Sunday morning there will be a 9 Hole Shot Gun Stroke Play Format in which the top 6 teams advance. Sunday afternoon there will be a 6 Hole Elimination where the team with the highest score will be knocked out until two teams are left in a single hole elimination.
