Update on Grande Meadows Participants!
Matthew Hackett led the way among the 8 Grande Meadows participants carding a 3 day total of 239 from scores of 76. 78 and 85. Hackett was only 2 strokes back after Day 2 but fell of the pace on the final day to finish in a tie for 13th place in the Mid Amateur Division.
Deon Grandy’s 3 day 254 total came from daily scores of 84, 87 and 83 while Mike Blagdon shot scores of 82, 89 and 92 for a 263 total. Rounding out the Mid Amateur Division was Mike Russell scores of 96, 88 and 92 for a 3 day total of 276.
Perry Stone’s 3 day total of 255 from scores of 91, 80 and 84 was good enough for a tie for 8th place in the Senior Division. Bob Banfield and Gary Smith also competed in the Senior Division. Banfield’s 3 day total of 279 came from scores of 95, 95 and 89 while Smith had daily scores of 99, 95 and 99 for a 293 total.
Tracey Blagdon competed at the Provincials for the first time and came away with a 3 day total of 338 from score of 120, 104 and 114.

Matthew Hackett of Grande Meadows Golf Course sits in 6th place after Day 2 of competition in the NL Men’s Royal Lepage Amateur Golf Championships being held at Twin Rivers Golf Course in Port Blandford. The good news is that Hackett is just 2 strokes behind a 5 way tie for first place having carded scores of 76 on Monday and 78 on Tuesday.
Tied for first place with 152 totals are Ryan McNeil Lamswood of Harmon Seaside Links in Stephenville, C. J. Nolan of Bally Haly, Mike Furlong and Jaron Flynn all of Bally Haly along with Adam Howse of Terra Nova Golf Resort.
7 other Grande Meadows golfers are taking part in various divisions at the provincials including Mike Blagdon, Deon Grandy and Perry Stone who all have 2 days totals of 171 while Mike Russell is at 184, Bob Banfield is at 190 and Gary Smith’s 2 day total is 194. Tracey Blagdon is competing in her first provincials and sit with a 2 day total of 224 having improved on her day 1 round by 16 strokes. Good luck to all in the final round on Wednesday.
