Pender Wins Fifth Juvenile Division Title at Grande Meadows
With fantastic course conditions and idea golfing weather, Grande Meadows Golf Club in Frenchman’s Cove played hosted to their first Tely Junior Tour competition and the sixth event on the 2023 Tely Junior Tour. The Tour also was pleased to have long time member of Grande Meadows and Golf NL Board Member, Barry Stacey as the honorary Starter with General Manager Heather Cluett presenting the awards.
Keegan Pender of Pippy Park Golf Course captured his fifth Juvenile Division title of the season recording an 11 over par 83 for the win. First year Tely Tour competitor Carson Aylward of Grande Meadows recorded a 94 to secure second place while fellow club member Daniel Foote carded a 103 and good for third place. | |
John Park of Terra Nova Resort picked up his second Junior Division crown carding a 10 over 82 for the low round of the day. Local member James Mitchell carded an 84 to claim second place with Karsen Best of Bally Haly recording a score of 87 to secure third place. | |
In the Bantam Boys Division, all three competitors in the division were first time members of the Tour and all are members of Grande Meadows golf Club. In the 9-hole competition, Carter Evans recorded a 45 to take the title with a 6-stroke victory over Brayden Norman, while Jared Young recorded a 74 to capture third place. |
At the closing awards luncheon, Golf NL thanked the host course, staff and management of Grande Meadows, the volunteers, refereees Paul Comeau and Joan Vautier, title sponsor The Telegram and contributing partners, RMS, Browning Harvey and Taylormade.
The next two events on the 2023 Tely Junior Tour will be held on Monday August 7th at Bally Haly Country Club in St. John’s and at The Wilds Resort on Tuesday August 8th.
