The Grande Meadows Women’s Night Committee hosted their first Two Person Best Ball Tournament on Saturday June 22, 2013 with a total of 66 golfers taking part. The event was 18 holes and had 3 divisions for golfers to compete in: Men’s, Women’s and Mixed.
In the Men’s Division a total of 17 teams took part and the scoring was very tight with only a couple of strokes separating the top teams. Mike Russell and Joey Smallwood came out on top with a winning score of 69. Brent Clarke and Dion Walsh finished second, only 1 stroke behind the winners with a score of 70.
In the Women’s Division a total of 4 teams took part. Heather Drake and Deanna Moulton, two former junior golfers from Grande Meadows, claimed the top spot with a score of 79. Followed by the mother daughter duo of Denisine and Jennifer Nolan who shot a score of 84 to take second place.
In the Mixed Division, Ray and Betty Walsh shot 72 to win the division by 1 stroke over the team of Jeremy and Stacy Cribb who fired 73. The Mixed Division had a total of 12 teams.
During the round there were different contests for the golfers to partake in such as closest to the hole for both Men and Women, closest to the white line, as well as Men’s and Women’s longest drive.
At the end of the round players had a chance to show their putting skill in a putting contest with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Breast Cancer Research. A lot of golfers took this opportunity to boast about how well they putted during the round however it wasn’t evident during the contest.
Overall, it was a great day for golf and all participants had a wonderful time during the round or just relaxing afterwards. Thanks to all the participants and the Women’s Night Committee for organizing a great tournament.
Below are photos of all participants as well as the winners.
