Clovelly to host 2014 Provincial Junior Championships – The View Golf Resort Site of 2014 Junior Development Camp
Golf Newfoundland Labrador (GNL), in partnership with The View Golf Resort and Clovelly, are pleased to announce that Clovelly will be the site of the 2014 Provincial Junior Championships. The View Golf Resort has been designated as the site for the annual Provincial Junior Development Camp.
GNL President, Marcheta Gallant, stated that “With the pending National Junior Boys’ Championship confirmed for Clovelly in 2016, it will be to the local players’ advantage to host our Provincials at this championship venue”. The Provincial Championships will be played on The Osprey Championship Course from July 7th to 10th .
The View Golf Resort located in Princeton, Bonavista Bay, was scheduled to host the 2014 Championships, however, in discussions with GNL it was felt that The View would be more suited to host a number of development camps as opposed to this provincial competition.
GNL's Competitions Director, Jan Peters, noted that “The View Golf Resort will be a great venue to host the development training camp in the spring of 2014. These camps are considered to be a cornerstone in the development of junior golf for the province”. The Association is excited to partner with The View in hosting this coming event that is scheduled to be held on the May 24th weekend. Additional details will be released in the coming months.
