Eric Ayers Captures 2017 Match Play Championship

Eric Ayers went through the summer long tournament undefeated and captured his first Grande Meadows title by defeating 3 time runnerup Mike Russell 2 & 1 to win the final Match. Russell had a chance to prolong the match on Hole #17 but missed a short putt and Ayers had his title. 

16 golfers started out in July in the single elimination tournament with the winner moving on and the losers of Round 1 moving on to the Consolation Round.

Gerard Cooke defeated John Bugden 2 & 1 to win the Consolation Final.

Besides getting by Russell in the finals 2 & 1, Ayers defeated Frank Hodder 3 & 1 in the semi-finals and Everett Farwell 4 & 3 in the Quarter finals. Russell defeated Ed Antle 1 UP in the semi finals and got by Kevin Carvery 6 & 5 in the Quarter Finals. 

Cooke made it to the finals of the Consolation round by getting by Stan McCarthy in the Quarter Finals and Bob Banfield in the Semi Finals while Bugden disposed of Ivan Paul in the Quarter Finals and Clayton Welsh in the Semi Finals.
