Barry Stacey won the Grande Meadows 2024 Match Play Championship on Saturday defeating Calvin Brenton 2 & 1 in the finals. In a very close match that see sawed back and forth the first four holes before Brenton went 2 UP after Hole #8. Stacey won Holes 9 & 10 to even the match which stayed that way until Stacey won Holes # 13, 14 and 15 to go 3 UP. Brenton won Hole # 16 to close the gap to 2 UP but a saw off on Hole # 17 gave Stacey his 5th Grande Meadows Match Play title – having previously won in 2001, 2004, 2013 and 2020. For Brenton it was his second time in 2 years to finish runner up having lost to Perry Stone in the 2022 Match Play finals.
In route to the finals Stacey had a bye in the first round, Stacey then came up with narrow 1 UP victories over Glenn Picco and Jordan Baird in rounds 2 and 3 setting up the meeting Brenton. Brenton meanwhile got by Everett Farwell 6 & 4 in Round 1 and followed that up with a 3 & 1 win over Kevin Pittman in Round 2 while in Round 3 he had to go an extra hole to defeat Bill Warren.
Everett Farwell won the the Consolation Final as he got by Albert Pike by a score of 7 & 6.

Round 3 Update
The 2024 Match Play Finalists have been decided after a couple of exciting Round 3 matches. Calvin Brenton and Barry Stacey advanced winning very close 3rd Round Matches.
Calvin Brenton got by Bill Warren on the 19th hole in a close match that see sawed back and forth all the way through. Warren made a great putt on Hole #18 to force the playoff but a par on Hole 19 gave Brenton the win.
Barry Stacey got by Jordan Baird 1 UP in another close match. Stacey went 4 UP after 9 holes but Baird clawed his way back into the match and was 1 Down on Hole #18 with a 10 foot birdie putt to extend the match. The putt just slid by the hole and allowed Stacey to eke out the win.
In a 3rd Round consolation match Everett Farwell defeated Stan McCarthy 4 & 3 to advance to the Consolation Final against Albert Pike who got by Perry Stone 1 UP.
Round 2 Update
In Round 2 Bill Warren got by Paul Lambe 4 & 3 while Calvin Brenton defeated Kevin Pittman 3 & 1. Jordan Baird won the 18th hole to take a match over James Mitchell 1 UP and Barry Stacey got by Glenn Picco 1 UP.
Round 2 games see Brenton facing Warren while Baird plays Stacey
In the Consolation Round Stan McCarthy got by Bob Banfield and Everett Farwell won over Matthew Hackett. Perry Stone got by Ed Antle. The next consolation round pits McCarthy against Farwell and Stone against Albert Pike who received a bye.
Round 1 is in the books in the Annual Grande Meadows Match Play tournament.
In Round 1 matches Paul Lambe won over Stan McCarthy 6 & 5, Bill Warren got by Bob Banfield 5 & 4, Kevin Pittman eked out a 2 & 1 win over Matthew Hackett while Calvin Brenton got by Everett Farwell 6 & 4. Jordan Baird got by Perry Stone 5 & 4, James Mitchell got by defending champion Edmund Antle 6 & 5 while Glen Picco edged Albert Pike 1 UP to advance to the second round of play. Barry Stacey had a bye in the opening round.
In Round 2 Paul Lambe takes on Bill Warren, Kevin Pittman goes against Calvin Brenton, Jordan Baird takes on James Mitchell while Glen Picco goes up against Barry Stacey.
In Consolation Round action Stan McCarthy plays Bob Banfield, Matthew Hackett meets Everett Farwell, Perry Stone goes up against Edmund Antle while Albert Pike gets the bye.
