The 2022 Grande Meadows Junior Men’s Championships proved to be very competitive with a playoff deciding the champion. Kevin Power held a 4 stroke lead over Noah Ryan and a 6 stroke lead over defending champion James Mitchell after the opening 9 holes of play. On the back 9 Mitchell cut Power’s lead to 2 strokes by birdieing 2 of the first 4 holes, however, Power warded off the challenge and actually led by 3 strokes going to the 18th hole. Power got into some trouble and scored a 7 while Mitchell parred the last hole to move into a tie with Power and force a playoff. Power had a front 9 of 37 and a back 9 of 48 for an 85 total while Mitchell carded a front 9 of 43 and a back 9 of 42 for his 85 total.

On the first playoff hole Mitchell parred while Power bogeyed to give Mitchell his second straight Grande Meadows Junior Men’s Golf Championship.

Noah Ryan who was in 2nd place after the front 9 with a 41 fell to 47 on the back 9 for a total of 88. Ryan finished in 3rd place 3 strokes behind the leaders.
Brooke Evans won the 2022 Grande Meadows Junior Ladies Championship. Brooke is 9 years old and in grade 5. She has been playing golf for 5 seasons now. This is her second year in Junior Golf and she participated in Future Links for 3 years. Congratulations Brooke.
2002 Grande Meadows Junior Golf Participants

Grande Meadows Golf Course recently completed a very successful Junior Golf Program for 2022. The season finished off with a 2 day 18 hole club championship followed by a chip, putt and drive contest for all participants. A special thank you goes out to the all the young golfers for their participation, their two young coaches, Kevin Power and James Mitchell as well as Junior Golf Program Coordinators Tracy Blagdon and Gus Keating. It was a treat to see so many young boys and girls out enjoying the game of golf. Hopefully they all will be members of Grande Meadows in the years to come.
